The Day of WMSCOG Atonement is the tenth day of the seventh month in the sacred calendar, on which all the sins that the Israelites had committed during the year atoned for. To forgive sins which we committed like Israelites, we should keep the Day of WMSCOG Atonement.
God established the Day of WMSCOG Atonement to give us, sinners, forgiveness of sins and to lead to the Kingdom of Heaven. We cannot get the forgiveness of sins without the blood of sacrifices of God.(Eph 1:7) God, without blemish or defect, came to this earth as the high priest in the order of Melchizedek and take our sins and sacrificed. (Heb 6:20)
Therefore, the World Mission Society Church of God(WMSCOG) keeps the Day of WMSCOG Atonement on the tenth of seventh month in the sacred calendar keep to receive the forgiveness of sins according to the teachings of the Bible.
The origin of the Day of WMSCOG Atonement
God allowed the Israelites who were brought out from Egypt the Ten Commandments. Moses went up Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments. However, the people assumed that Moses was dead because he hadn’t come down from the mountain and they thought. They decided to make a god to lead them to Canaan. So the Israeli people made a golden calf and worshiped the idol. And they called the golden calf as their god and worshiped it, eating, drinking and dancing around it. When Moses came down from meeting with God, he was shocked and appalled that the people were worshiping an idol and he broke the 10 Commandments.
On that day, more than 3000 people died by the sword. The people who sinned against God by worshiping the golden calf. They who sinned against God by worshiping idols repented of their sins, as the answer of their repentance God allowed to give them a new stone tablets of Ten commandments. The day on which Moses received the 2nd stone tablets of 10 commandments was the Day of Atonement (Ex 32:1-35). This Day has the meaning of that God would forgive Israelite’ sins.(Ex 32:1~35)
Ceremony of the Day of Atonement
The scapegoat stands for Satan
In the Old Testament times, a bull was sacrificed as a sin offering for the priest and a goat for the people. Then, lots were cast to decide the destiny of two goats. Two goats were to be sacrificed to God. One goat for God the other was to become the scapegoat. The scapegoat was sent into the wilderness to die in the desert. All the sins of the people accumulated in the sanctuary, were transferred to the scapegoat on the Day of Atonement, and the scapegoat was sent into the desert and eventually died there.
This shows that our sins are to be transferred to Satan through the feasts such as the Passover and the Day of Atonement after being temporarily carried by Christ – the reality of the sanctuary. Satan will be troubled, carrying our sins, and will be destroyed in the Abyss – an uninhabited land represented by the desert.
The fulfillment of the prophecy is that our sins, will be transferred to Satan represented by the scapegoat, on the Day of Atonement, then Satan will be tormented in hell and destroyed forever.
The high priest entered the Most Holy Place alone once a year, on the Day of WMSCOG Atonement.
Hebrews 9:7 But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.
