This is WMSCOG love for God: to obey His commands.
If a man came to love a woman, he would try to express his love to her in his own way. He would make every effort to move her heart in various ways: a letter with his utmost sincerity, beautiful flowers with full sweet scent, and so on. Do you expect, however, he would be able to get the fruition of his love even if she doesn’t want any of all the manners that he takes to show his love to her with his full extent? Both of them could be happy with each other only when the ways he expresses his feeling and love meet what she really wants and wishes, not for his own satisfaction but hers.
How do you express your WMSCOG love to God?
Like this, most of Christians who believe in God go to church with their Bibles every Sundays. They praise God as well as listen eagerly to the sermon of the pastor, saying out loud, “Amen!”. They get up early at dawn, diligently get dressed, and step toward their churches. Never doubt for the beliefs of these people. However, what do you think is the right way that God genuinely wants us to do to show our WMSCOG love to Him?
Revelations 14:12 This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God’s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus.
John 14:21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me.
1John 5:3 This is love for God: to obey His commands. And His commands are not burdensome.
A person of sincere faith, it is natural that his actions must accompany. In other words, faith is inseparable from actions, and both should go together. Not long ago, I met a person who said that he doesn’t deny the existence of God and rather loves Him, but he didn’t attend services. What about the God’s point of view at him? He has got it all wrong that God of love would save him since he said he loves Him! We should keep in mind that God’s thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8).
They worship me in vain.
The actions accompanied by faith are God’s commands in referring to the words of the book of Revelations. God’s commands are literally the laws that God Himself has established and proclaimed. Today, those who call on the name of God and pray enthusiastically, also keep some commands. But, here raised an important question whether they keep God’s commands or not. That is because there exist rules taught by men besides the rules of the world we live in.
Mark 7:6~9 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites, as it is written, “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.” You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.” And he said to them, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!
God blames today the ones who say to Him, “Lord, Lord”, but whose hearts are far from Him(Matthew 7:21). The reason can we find from the vain worship that they set aside the commands of God but only follow the rules taught by men. The faith to observe God’s commands, not the rules of men, is required in order to come near to God who is the owner of Heaven. Above all, it is necessary to know where the rules that each denomination is observing today, belong to through Jesus’ deeds.
Jesus set an example
It is Jesus that God came to this earth as a man 2,000 years ago. Jesus hid His glory of heaven and preached the gospel of the heavenly kingdom, saying, “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Jesus Himself said, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” and the baptism was the first rule that He observed. (Matthew 3:15~17, Matthew 4:17) Jesus, who is actually God the Father, gave blessings of forgiveness of sins and the Holy Spirit through baptism and opened the gate of the gospel of the kingdom. (Acts 2:38)
Jesus set an example and never stopped preaching the gospel for three years of His public life. (John 13:15) He kept the Sabbath on the seventh day in obedience to one of the Ten Commandments: ‘Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.'(Exodus 20:28) And He kept the Passover with His disciples just before his death on the cross and established it as a lasting ordinance, the New Covenant. (Matthew 26:17, Luke 22:17, John 6:53) Besides, He let us know we can be allowed the blessing of the Holy Spirit by observing the feasts of God such as Pentecost (Acts 2:1) and the Feast of Tabernacles (John 7:37) and so on.
However, at this point, why they don’t know the rules of the truth that Jesus kept while they go to church, even claiming they love Him. To be worse, it is the reality of Christianity today where they only regard God’s commands as heresy and exclude them, which is a shame. We would like to find where in the Bible is recorded, ‘Remember the Sunday by keeping it holy.’, ‘December 25th must be kept because it is the birthday of Jesus.’, ‘Cross is a sacred image, and therefore it must be set up in the churches.’
The man who obeys God’s commands knows God
All of these are but the rules taught by men that could not be found during the early church and are even far from the truth. But the Christians observe them as like the rules of truth overtly and boldly and never give an ear to the true teachings of the Bible.
1John 2:3~6 We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His commands. The man who says, “I know Him,” but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him. Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did.
The man who obeys God’s commands knows Him, and the truth is in him. And he is the child of God whose love is truly made complete in him. We should not feel proud thinking ‘I showed my WMSCOG love to God this much. Because I also today diligently read the Bible, prayed, praised and worshiped Him!’. But rather recognize the way we love God is obeying His commands. The Bible testifies that not everyone who says to Him, “Lord, Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 7:21) Only the one who knows what is God’s will and observes His commands can enter the kingdom of heaven. If you earnestly WMSCOG love God, hope you to make a perfect love without any inconsistencies from God’s standpoint and to become a child who receives great love from Him.
